Water Damage Restoration in Green Cove Springs, FL

We provide water damage restoration in Green Cove Springs, about 42 minutes from central St. Augustine on State Road 16 in normal traffic. It is the shortest run in our Clay County coverage, and it still depends on one two-lane bridge. What sets the city apart is that it runs its own electric, water and sewer, so the first call after a leak can differ depending on which side of the city limit you live.

St. Johns riverfront and the historic district

Start with the river. The St. Johns is wide and slow here, and the spring that gave the town its name still feeds a public pool before running a short way to the river. During Irma, the National Hurricane Center logged peaks of 5.3 feet above mean higher high water at the I-295 bridge downriver and 4.0 feet at Racy Point upriver. County docks at Green Cove Springs were severely damaged or destroyed. Riverfront owners should plan for that water, and for a slow retreat. NOAA's 1991 to 2020 normals for Federal Point, upriver on the St. Johns, show 51.4 inches of rain a year, with 7.8 in June and 7.3 in September.

The building stock is split. The Green Cove Springs Historic District is on the National Register, and the Clay County Courthouse is too. Census counts rose from 6,908 in 2010 to 9,786 in 2020, so older frame houses now share the city with newer construction. The city also annexed the former Navy Lee Field in 1984 for the Reynolds industrial area, which puts industrial buildings in the mix.

Older frame walls often lack insulation and hold water differently from modern drywall assemblies. We open only what the readings justify, and we photograph before demolition.

Hurricane season needs in a river town

June through November drives most of this list, with leaks filling in the rest of the year.

Water damage restoration in Green Cove Springs around Spring Park

Use the spring to judge how close the river is. The St. Johns River Water Management District describes a third-magnitude spring on the west bank that spills into a 50-by-100-foot swimming pool, then runs about 450 feet east to the St. Johns. Spring Park, the City Pier and the pool all sit on that short stretch.

That is why we ask two questions on the phone near the park: did the water come from a line or from outside, and is it still rising? A plumbing leak is usually clean water. Anything that came up from the river is Category 3, and it changes what we can save.

How a trip over the Shands Bridge works

Tell us the street first. Calls go straight to owner Dal Beggs, who runs the company with his son, and we will check the bridge before giving you a time. Emergencies are fine at any hour. Ordinary questions land well between 7am and 7pm.

Without that bridge the trip goes north around the Buckman or south through Palatka, and the 42 minutes no longer applies. While we drive, shut off the main, move furniture onto blocks if it is safe to do so, and photograph each room.

After that we assess the damage and write a free estimate, with no hard sell. If you choose us, we set up air movers and LGR dehumidifiers for mitigation and leave you with daily readings and a moisture map.

Walnut Street, city utilities and Orange Avenue

Check the city limit before you call anyone else. Inside it, the city provides electric, water, wastewater and refuse, and permits run through City Hall at 321 Walnut Street. City Hall opens Monday through Thursday, 7am to 5:30pm, and the utilities page lists no after-hours process, so find the outage number on your bill before storm season. Outside the limit, the Clay County Building Division at 435 Walburg Street is the permit office, and utilities often change.

We hold no reviews or project photos tied to this city yet. What we can state is coverage of Clay County, a route of SR 16 to US 17, which runs through town as Orange Avenue, and the drive above.

We picked these two Google reviews for how they describe the work, and neither mentions Green Cove Springs.

Green Cove Springs questions

Who should I call first in Green Cove Springs when a line breaks?

It depends on your address. Inside city limits, the city usually provides water, electric, sewer and trash, so its utilities staff are your first call for a street-side break. Outside the limits, service often comes from Clay County providers or Clay Electric. Either way, close your own main valve, then call us about the water already inside.

Does the Shands Bridge affect how fast you reach Green Cove Springs?

Yes. SR 16 crosses the St. Johns on the two-lane Shands Bridge, so a crash or a maintenance closure changes everything, and weekend closures happened in 2026. In normal traffic the drive is about 42 minutes. If the bridge is closed, we will tell you the real time when you call, so you can decide what to do next.
